Work 3

Workshop 3
Collaboration and
Behind every great person... are a bunch of other people.
Cooperation
Alone we can do so little but together we can do so much.

As a student the basic understanding of collaboration is an act of joining together to make possible that can not be accomplished alone. Whether a student is collaborating in a workplace, in school or as part of a project, collaboration can both help and even hurt depending on how it's been done.

Here are two way collaboration can be accomplished:

  • Decisions should be made based on consensus.
  • When you don't agree, do not get violent or angry.
Now the real question is how to do collaborate as  a Team:

The main focus of collaborating within a team or individual is to have a clear goal in mind. This involved everyone to understand what the goal is and believe that the goal is worthwhile. Therefore Create a results-driven structure within your team that is appropriate for the goal you want to achieve. In the video below you will see how a Team with different skills have collaborate to achieve a goal also what kind of tool was require in order to get a good result.

Is cooperation important?

Cooperation leads to productivity, a team morale and a generally good working atmosphere.
To achieve something if you are part of a team, of any kind we need to cooperate so that we achieve what we are trying to do. If we don't talk to each other (one message doesn't go where it's intended, for example), and you want to tell someone something, it doesn't get done, does it? If people do do what they say they will do then it gets done. If someone expects you to do something and you don't, it could result in confusions in other people's minds, possibly, I don't know if you have observed this or not of course, but have a look and see if it makes sense to you.

A solid example of this is shown in the video below but a simple example to prove that cooperation is important is "A student has to cooperate with the teacher in class whenever tutorials are given out. Therefore the student is cooperating with the teacher in order to receive instruction from the her and complete the tutorial.

But the question is there a difference between Cooperation and collaboration?
Cooperation and collaboration can be define in many different ways for example: When you cooperate with someone, you are helping them with something that they are doing. A project for example  usually belongs to the other person and you contribute your knowledge or skills to its success. But when you collaborate with someone, you are more of an equal partner, the project belongs to both of you, it is a labor taken on by more than one person towards a common end. A good understanding about the difference between cooperation and collaboration is shown below in the video.

Is this video real?
Yes, using real shepherds and real sheepdogs, and a lot of it was achieved in camera. It was always our ambition to achieve most of it in camera.

If this project or experiment was achieve mostly with the led and camera would it be successful without the dogs?
After watching this video the main aspect I find interesting is the way the team has trained those dog in order to achieved what they want. The dogs are the key for this experiment as there is no way on earth this would be possible to achieve without them.
Therefore I first aspect to cover for this video is without the dogs nothing would be possible.
Firstly the dog must be able to understand what kind of experiment is involved

What about the sheep, what are they doing?
Sheep don’t like being separated from the pack Getting one sheep to stand alone is a  nightmare. Getting one sheep to stand on its own while there’s another pack of sheep near it is virtually impossible. The video shows that the dogs are training to make make the sheep following orders. Whenever the dogs move the sheep move the away from the dogs. Therefore the sheep's move exactly where the dogs want them to go.

Like I mention above the entire team needs to know what the goal and the outcome is even the dogs. This would not be possible if one member of the team doesn't know what is happening during the experiment.
Therefore to be successful the team needs to trust each other and believe that what they are doing must the achieved.

This is as it uses creative technique and a marketing message to for users to pass on. The manufacturer expect everyone to know what their new product coming to the market as this video is being made as a campaign for the launch of a new generation of LED light or TVs.
The main focus of this video is to pass a message about a new generation of LED display/ Light, TV, etc....
